Warfare - by Tony Evans

One of the most underrated dangers in the Christian life is Spiritual Warfare.  It seems that too many times people think that walking with Christ is just all fun and games.  It's almost as if they believe that by giving their life to Christ, they are signing on to this great package where everything in life will come easy.  But nothing could be farther from the truth.
Throughout the Bible, we see time after time where a commitment to God meant suffering, persecution, and many times even death.  Tony Evans does a wonderful job in laying out a good understanding of spiritual warfare.  He traces all the way back to the moment when Lucifer decided that he wanted to be worshipped instead leading worship.  He talks about the impacts of spiritual warfare on the world.
Then he really digs deep and begins to talk about how Satan brings the fight to us on a personal level.  As the words of Peter so greatly describe it, "...the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour."  This book also deals with the family.  Starting with the Garden of Eden, Satan began an attack on marriage and family.  As Tony Evans says in the book, "If Satan can get to the next generation by messing up our homes, then he has us, our kids, and the homes they will establish someday, because our children will be ill equipped to raise their children properly."
The most encouraging part is the last half of the book.  This is where Tony Evans talks about the resources of the Christians. We have prayer, angels, and most importantly, the blood of Jesus.  Satan cannot stand against God.  We are more than conquerors.  We are overcomers.  We have victory in Jesus.
I would encourage you to read this book, if nothing else, as a means of encouragement to understand that we are not in this alone.  And although sometimes if feels as if we are overwhelmed by the forces of darkness, we serve a God that is All-Powerful.  Satan and his demons are no match for God.
I would like to thank Moody Publishing for the opportunity to review this book.  It is informative and encouraging.  A great read for anyone.

God Bless,

Marcus
