Bash & the Pirate Pig!  I must admit, the name of the book is what first caught my attention.  Maybe it's just because anything that has the word "pirate" in it.  What I found is a book that isn't about pirates, but about a normal kid and his very energetic cousin.
Beamer is sent to spend the summer with his cousin Bash.  What takes place that summer is one adventure after another.  You will find that Bash has a nose for getting into trouble.  Not necessarily bad, he just has a knack for causing chaos. (i.e. Amelia Bedelia)  He also has a very unique way of introducing his cousin Beamer to Jesus.
This book is a fun book.  My kids love it.  It's absolutely hilarious.  Some folks might be uncomfortable with this book simply because it has some different language.  Not bad, just a little blunt.  For instance, they call each other "idiot," tell a few gross jokes(i.e. greasy, grimy gopher guts), and kind of argue back and forth.  In my opinion, this is not a bad thing, so I have no problem with it.  I just understand that there might be some families who would find this uncomfortable.
Overall, this is a fun book for the family.  Written by Burton W. Cole, it is
multiple adventure's that are injected with spiritual emphasis.  I give this a 5 out of 5 based on the creative writing, the humor, and plain out fun found in this book.
